Most bus services in Devon will be further restored with effect from Sunday 14th June. This is in response to recent Government announcements and a fresh round of funding direct to bus companies for commercially operated services, plus an anticipated additional grant via local authorities for supported services.

A summary for each bus company is attached. Inevitably, these further changes are at short notice and final timetables are in the process of being posted on-line. The County Council’s web site will in due course be including full timetable details as confirmed with each company. In the meantime a summary is attached.

County Council-supported services are virtually all restored to their full level. A further round of Government funding for local authority support of bus services is anticipated. In addition, the Council is due to receive its share of the previously announced Funding for Supported Services 2020/2021, in respect of which we consulted publicly on a programme of service improvements. In the light of the coronavirus situation, with levels of passenger usage and revenue having fallen by around 95% and likely to recover only gradually, we have applied to Government to take up their option of using the new funding to support existing services through the coming period of financial uncertainty. The intention therefore is to postpone the programme of service improvements until we know the long term funding position from central Government and future stability of the bus network.

Stagecoach are incorporating some changes to their commercially operated services which were part of their service review and public consultation which took place prior to the coronavirus situation. These are mainly within Exeter, plus the Exeter – Okehampton – Bude / Launceston service.

Alongside bus services being restored, the temporary pre-0930 free travel concession for National Bus Pass-holders is being withdrawn. This is to help ensure capacity for workers during peak hours.

The following notice for passengers, issued by the Government, is being displayed on buses and at main bus stops:
